Every event program reaches a size where the brand team can no longer be everywhere at once. Ten cities, three activations a weekend, a mix of venues and retail partners, a different crew in each market: somebody has to be the person on the ground who knows the plan inside out and can make decisions without waiting for a phone call. That person is a field marketing manager. Rockstarr Media has been staffing events since 2001 and has seen what happens to programs with strong field leadership and programs without it. The difference shows in staff energy, brand consistency, partner relationships and, ultimately, results.

Our field marketing managers lead teams, run schedules, coordinate with venues and retail partners, train new staff and keep the program on brief. We cast them from our own network for experience, judgment and calm under pressure, and we draw on local people in every major US city and the towns around them, so a manager often already knows the market. When you need a manager to travel with a tour, we will discuss that in your quote, though it is rare that we need to fly anyone in. Every booking is quoted, and the manager works alongside your single point of contact at Rockstarr so nothing falls between the cracks.

On the floor

What our field marketing managers do

01

Lead the on-site team

Managers run the pre-shift huddle, assign positions, keep energy up, manage breaks and cover, and correct problems early, so your brand ambassadors and promo staff perform at their best throughout the day.

02

Manage multi-market programs

They coordinate schedules, staff and materials across several cities or venues, keeping track of what is happening where and making sure each location runs to the same standard and brief.

03

Work with venues and partners

Managers are the friendly, reliable face to venue managers, store staff and event organizers, handling check-in, setup permissions and on-the-day questions so the relationship stays strong for future dates.

04

Train and brief staff

They walk new team members through the product, the message, the setup and the rules, answer questions before the first guest arrives and refresh the brief as the program changes.

05

Track results and feedback

Managers collect the counts and observations you ask for, such as samples, sign-ups, redemptions and customer reactions, and send them back in the format you prefer after each event.

06

Solve problems on the spot

A missing delivery, a moved location, a no-show or an unhappy venue manager: field managers deal with it calmly, make sensible decisions within the limits you set and keep you informed.

When does a program need a field marketing manager?

Not every event needs a dedicated manager. A single sampling table for an afternoon can run with a capable lead ambassador and a phone number to call. The need for a field manager grows with complexity. If your program has more than one location running at once, several staff per event, relationships with venues or retail partners that need looking after, or a schedule that runs for weeks or months, a manager quickly pays for themselves. They also make sense when the brand team cannot attend most events, when staff turnover is high, or when you need reliable reporting from the field. Think about where the risk is. If something goes wrong on a Saturday afternoon in a city three time zones away, who notices, who decides and who fixes it? If the honest answer is nobody until Monday, your program needs a field manager. We will help you decide whether a full manager or a lead ambassador makes more sense for your plan.

Setting a field manager up to succeed

A field manager is only as effective as the authority and information you give them. Start by writing down what they own: running the team, the setup, partner relationships, results tracking or all of the above. Define the decisions they can make without asking, such as moving a table, adjusting breaks, replacing materials or extending a shift by an hour, and the decisions that need your approval. Give them the full picture of the program, not just the next event, so they understand how each date fits the larger goal. Share contacts for venues, partners, suppliers and your own team. Agree on what reporting you need and keep it simple; a short note after each event with the key counts, photos and issues is usually more useful than a long weekly document. Finally, ask for their opinion. Field managers see things the brand team never sees, and their suggestions are often the fastest way to improve a program.

Field manager versus an in-house hire

Brands sometimes ask whether they should hire their own field marketing staff instead of booking managers through an agency. Both can make sense. An in-house hire builds long-term knowledge and loyalty, but it brings recruiting time, ongoing salary and benefits, and the challenge of covering the role when someone leaves or falls ill. It also ties you to one person's location, which is a problem for programs that move between markets. A field manager booked through Rockstarr can start sooner, scales up or down with your calendar and comes with backup if plans change. Because we have local people in every major US city and the towns around them, you can often have a manager who already knows the market. If you are unsure which route fits, talk to us about your program and timeline, and consider our contract and direct-hire options, which let you start with a booked manager and decide later.

How we work

From brief to booth

  1. 1

    Define the role

We agree what your manager is responsible for, what decisions they can make on their own, what they report and how often, and who on your side they answer to day to day.

  2. 2

    Cast the right leader

We cast a manager from our own network whose experience fits the scale and type of your program, often someone local to the market. You receive a written quote before anything is booked.

  3. 3

    Hand over the program

The manager learns the brief, goals, schedule, partners and materials, ideally meeting your team before the first event so they understand your brand and your standards first hand.

  4. 4

    Run and report

The manager leads each event, reports back in the format agreed and flags issues early. Your Rockstarr point of contact stays involved, so you always have two people looking after the program.

Local, not flown in

Local staff in every city we work

Many staffing agencies are based in one city and fly talent to the rest. Rockstarr Media already has staff in place in every major US city and the towns just outside them, so your team is local wherever your event is. It is rare that we need to fly anyone in.

FAQ

Field Marketing Managers: questions

What does a field marketing manager do at events?

A field marketing manager leads your on-site team, runs the schedule, coordinates with venues and retail partners, trains and briefs staff, solves problems as they come up and tracks the results you care about. On multi-city programs they keep standards consistent across locations and act as your eyes and ears in the field.

Is a field manager the same as a team lead?

Not quite. A team lead usually works on the floor alongside the staff at a single event and takes on some leadership tasks. A field marketing manager has broader responsibility, often across several events or markets, including partner relationships, planning, reporting and decision-making. We can provide either, depending on the scale of your program.

Can a field manager travel with our tour?

It can be arranged, and it sometimes makes sense on a tour where continuity matters. In many cases, though, we can place a manager who is local to each market, since we have local staff in every major US city and the towns around them. We will recommend the approach that best fits your program in the quote.

How do field managers report results?

They report in the format you choose. Most brands prefer a short summary after each event with key counts such as samples, sign-ups or redemptions, a few photos, customer reactions and any issues. We agree the format and timing at the start so your reporting fits the way your team already works.

Can field managers supervise alcohol programs?

Yes. Our models are certified and trained to serve alcohol, and we hold alcohol licensing in every state we work, including TABC certification in Texas. Field managers on alcohol programs make sure tastings and bar promotions run within the rules of each state and venue, with qualified staff in every serving role.

How is a field marketing manager priced?

Every booking is quoted individually. The price depends on the scope of responsibility, the number of events or markets, the length of the program and whether travel is involved. Tell us about your program and we will send a written quote before anything is confirmed.
