Set up a self-tape at home

Camera: your phone, set at eye level on a stack of books or a cheap tripod
Light: face a window in daylight, or put a lamp behind your phone
Backdrop: a plain wall or a light sheet pinned up behind you
Sound: a quiet room, phone close. Turn off fans and notifications
Framing: chest up, a little space above your head

Build a reel from scratch

Film a 60-second monologue that shows who you are
Add a scene with a friend reading the other lines off camera
Add something real: you hosting, interviewing or talking to camera
Keep the best two or three clips, under two minutes in total

Get on camera where you live

Local theater and community productions
Student films at the nearest college. Film students need actors
Event and brand work: hosting, brand ambassador shifts, brand videos
