The votes are in. DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs 2026 — the largest publicly voted poll in electronic music — closed at 23:59 GMT on 16 September, and the results will be read out live from the stage at [UNVRS] in Ibiza on Tuesday 6 October. It is the second consecutive year the ceremony has been staged at the venue, following its Ibiza debut there in 2025. Why this year is different. In 33 years of the poll, no artist has ever won it six times. Three are now sitting on five. David Guetta took his fifth title in 2025. Martin Garrix, the 2024 winner, is also on five. So is Armin van Buuren, whose trance-era dominance of the poll predates both of them. Any one of the three walking away with the crown on 6 October sets a record that has stood unbroken since the poll began. The narrower story inside that. Since 2020, the No. 1 spot has gone to exactly two people: Guetta or Garrix. That is six consecutive years in which the top of the world's biggest dance-music popularity contest has been a two-man conversation. The question the 6 October reveal answers is not only who wins, but whether anyone outside that pair can still interrupt it. Who is playing. The night is a show as much as an awards ceremony. Lost Frequencies, Charlotte de Witte, GORDO, Vintage Culture, ANASTAZJA and Korolova are all billed to perform, with the reveal of the World's No. 1 DJ delivered live on stage — and the newly crowned winner then takes to the decks for a set of their own. That last detail is the one worth staying for: it is the only moment in the calendar where the announcement and the victory lap happen in the same room. Charlotte de Witte's presence is its own subplot. She has held the World's No. 1 Techno DJ title for six consecutive years and placed No. 9 overall in 2025 — the highest any techno artist has climbed in a poll whose upper reaches are traditionally mainstage territory. She is performing at the ceremony where that streak is either extended or ended. It is not one award. Alongside the headline ranking, the ceremony recognises the World's No. 1 Trance DJ, the World's No. 1 Hard DJ, the World's No. 1 Techno DJ and the World's No. 1 House DJ, plus additional recognition awards. For a large part of the electronic music industry, those genre crowns carry more weight than the overall number, because they are a cleaner read on where a scene's centre of gravity actually sits. What the poll measures, and what it does not. The Top 100 is a public vote, not a critical ranking and not a commercial one. It rewards reach, campaign energy and fan mobilisation as much as musical year. That is the standing criticism of it, and it is a fair one.
