The State Fair is moving to fall
Starting in 2027, the California State Fair runs in the fall instead of midsummer, with dates set for September 17 to October 3. If you have exhibited at Cal Expo in July before, reset your planning calendar and your staffing requests, because the fair now overlaps the city's busiest stretch of fall festivals and sports.
October is crowded
Fall weekends stack up fast. In 2026, Aftershock ran October 1 to 4, IRONMAN California was set for October 18 and the Kings opened at Golden 1 Center on October 23. Hotel rooms and experienced local staff are both in demand those weeks, so lock in your team as soon as your dates are firm.
A walkable convention district
Visit Sacramento counts more than 2,000 hotel rooms within walking distance of the convention center and about 4,000 within three miles. The arena and DOCO are a few blocks away, so one team can work a booth during show hours and move on foot to an evening hospitality event at a nearby hotel without extra transport.
Two ballparks' worth of crowds
Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento is home to the River Cats and, for now, the Athletics, which adds a major-league schedule across the river from downtown. Activations at sports venues follow the venue's and the organizer's rules, so share any sponsor guidelines early and we will brief staff on them before the first shift.
