Cultural events come first
Aloha Festivals and the Honolulu Festival are cultural celebrations before they are marketing opportunities. Activations near them work best when they add something useful, such as shade, hydration or a thoughtful sample. We brief staff on correct Hawaiian place names and protocol and follow your organizer's guidelines on what is appropriate.
The convention center rooftop is being rebuilt
The Hawaiʻi Convention Center's 95,000-square-foot rooftop terrace is being renovated into an outdoor event space, with completion expected in 2028. Until then, plan receptions and outdoor moments for indoor rooms or nearby spaces, and confirm with the venue which areas your event can use.
Parade and race days close streets
The Honolulu Festival Grand Parade and the Aloha Festivals Floral Parade run along Kalākaua Avenue through Waikīkī, and the Honolulu Marathon starts at 5 a.m. on Ala Moana Boulevard. Expect road closures on those days, and we build staff travel time around them so no one is late to a nearby activation.
Warm year-round, strong sun
Honolulu highs run from the low 80s to about 90°F through the year. Trade winds help, but sun exposure is the main concern at outdoor events. Plan shade, water and reef-friendly sunscreen for staff and guests, and weight tents and signage against gusts near the shoreline.
