Skywalks connect the convention core
DeVos Place connects by skywalk to three downtown hotels with more than 1,200 rooms, and another ten properties are within walking distance. In winter, attendees stay inside, so place greeters and sampling stations along the skywalk routes rather than outdoors.
ArtPrize spreads crowds across downtown
ArtPrize runs for about two weeks from mid-September, with more than 150 venues, so the crowds move instead of gathering in one spot. Mobile street teams with handouts tend to work better than a single fixed booth. Check the official map before choosing your corners.
The airport is close
Gerald R. Ford International Airport is about 16 minutes from downtown and offers nonstop flights to more than 35 destinations. That makes quick trips easy for executives and exhibitors. A greeter at baggage claim or a hotel lobby welcome desk is easy to schedule around arrivals.
Winter events are part of the calendar
Grand Rapids keeps events going through the cold months with World of Winter, Christkindl Markt and holiday programming downtown. If you plan an outdoor activation from November through February, budget for warm outerwear and shorter shifts so your staff stay friendly and alert.
