Grammy Nominations Drop November 16: What to Watch in Dance and Electronic Music
Think about the songs that got you through this year. The one on repeat on the drive to work. The one that came on at the party and made everybody scream. On Monday, November 16, the Recording Academy announces the nominations for the 2027 Grammy Awards, and some of those songs are about to have a very big day.
Here's everything dance and electronic fans need before the list drops.
The dates
- Eligibility: music released from August 31, 2025 to August 28, 2026
- Nominations announced: Monday, November 16, 2026
- Final voting: December 10, 2026 to January 7, 2027
- The show: Sunday, February 7, 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles
- Where to watch: live on ABC, streaming on Disney+ and Hulu
The dance categories
- Best Dance/Electronic Album
- Best Dance/Electronic Recording
- Best Dance Pop Recording
Last year's dance winners
- Best Dance/Electronic Album: FKA twigs, "EUSEXUA"
- Best Dance/Electronic Recording: Tame Impala, "End of Summer"
- Best Dance Pop Recording: Lady Gaga, "Abracadabra"
The one rule change that matters
This year an album needs at least 66 percent new recordings to qualify, down from 75 percent. The Recording Academy says the change keeps albums that are widely recognized as new from being shut out. In our view that matters most in dance music, where albums often arrive with extended versions and remixes.
Eligible dance albums people are talking about
- Tame Impala, "Deadbeat": released October 17, 2025. Last year's Dance/Electronic Recording winner came back with a full album shaped by the bush doof and rave culture of Western Australia
- Madonna, "Confessions II": released July 3, 2026, the sequel to her 2005 dance album "Confessions on a Dance Floor"
- Rochelle Jordan, "Through The Wall": released September 26, 2025
All three came out inside the eligibility window. Eligible is not the same as nominated: the real list arrives November 16, and we'll have the dance nominees here as soon as it does.
